This is a long-sleeved green, home, shirt that was prepared for use in a match sometime between the middle of 1994 (it was introduced immediately after the 1994 World Cup Finals) and the end of 1995. The shirt itself was never worn in any matches. However, it has been completely signed by the Irish squad of the time; players / staff to have signed the shirt include: Jack Charlton, Paul McGrath, Alan McLoughlin, Mark Kennedy, Ray Houghton, Niall Quinn, Terry Phelan, Jason McAteer, Roy Keane, Gary Kelly, Maurice Setters, Andy Townsend, Phil Babb, Steve Staunton, Tommy Coyne, John Sheridan, Pat Bonner, and John Aldridge.

I purchased the shirt from an auction held at Christie's in London. It was described in the auction catalogue as having been given to Irish legend Noel Cantwell by the then Assistant Manager, Maurice Setters. The shirt is quite rare though because it is fairly hard to come across shirts from that era that have been so comprehensively signed. The shirt differs from replica shirts because there is no sponsor's logo on the front: all Ireland replica shirts from 1992 onwards had a sponsor logo written on the front; shirts without a sponsor logo could not be bought in shops from this period onwards.
