This shirt was issued for use around 1990. The precise details of the shirt's history are unknown to me but it is definitely a match shirt from this period. It is a white, away, long-sleeved shirt and is unsigned. The shirt itself is in excellent condition and has been very well looked after over the years. It bears all the correct differences that one would expect to see on match shirts of this style. I obtained the shirt from a collector in Ireland who had bought it from someone in Poland; Ireland did play in Poland in 1990 - a qualifying match for Euro '92 - but they wore green shirts in that game. It is possible that this top was part of the away shirts that would have been taken in the event that the match referee asked Ireland to change into an alternative kit. It is also possible that it is a match shirt from the 1990 World Cup Finals; Ireland wore shirts exactly like this against Egypt, Holland and Italy. Either way, it is a very rare shirt.
