This is a shirt that was worn by Jimmy McGeough of Waterford United in a League of Ireland XI playing against the English League on September 22nd 1971. The English League won the match 2-1. The shirt is unusual because it was manufactured by the French manufacturer Le Coq Sportif. This is the only Irish jersey I have ever seen that was made by them - the badge on the shirt is the correct style and size for the badges used by Irish teams around this period. The person who supplied me with the shirt was unable to state where it had come from but fortunately someone on a well respected Irish football forum recognised the jersey from the match they actually went to as a child!
