This shirt was issued to midfielder Lee Carsley for the memorable trip to San Marino on February 7th 2007. It is a white, away, long-sleeved shirt and has not been signed. The shirt was given to a member of Ireland's backroom staff after the match and was subsequently donated to a charity in the UK. I purchased the shirt from that charity. The match itself was memorable for all the wrong reasons from an Irish viewpoint: Ireland were being held to a 1-1 draw until the final minute of injury time when Stephen Ireland scored the winner to make it 2-1 to Ireland. It was also the first match where Ireland wore this new away kit. Carsley did play in the match but he wore a short-sleeved shirt so there can be no question of this shirt being match worn. The shirt differs from replica shirts because there is no sponsor's logo on the front: all Ireland replica shirts from 1992 onwards had a sponsor logo written on the front; shirts without a sponsor logo could not be bought in shops from this period onwards.
