This shirt was worn by Ronnie Whelan playing for the Republic of Ireland sometime during 1985. Unfortunately, I do not know which match it was worn in. The shirt is a short-sleeved Number 8. The design of this shirt is very similar to the style that was worn up to 1985. The only difference is that this style of shirt has a plain white 'V'-neck collar, whereas the previous style had a green and yellow collar that came over the 'V'-neck.
I obtained the shirt through a very reliable source so I am certain that this shirt was actually worn by Ronnie Whelan and was not one of his spares; the shirt has been laundered since it was worn. However, it bears some minor signs of wear.
