This shirt was issued to Gary Kelly for use in the famous 1-0 victory over Holland on September 1st 2001. Kelly was sent off during the second half but Ireland went on to win the match 1-0 thanks to a goal from Jason McAteer.
The shirt has been signed on the front by the whole of the Ireland team. The match details have been printed onto the front of the shirt. This is a very rare shirt not least because of the significance of the match that it came from. The result of this match meant that Ireland were guaranteed at least a play off to the World Cup Finals and that Holland had been knocked out. The shirt differs from replica shirts because there is no sponsor's logo on the front: all Ireland replica shirts from 1992 onwards had a sponsor logo written on the front; shirts without a sponsor logo could not be bought in shops from this period onwards
