This shirt was issued to midfielder Stephen Ireland for Ireland's historic fixture in a Euro 2008 qualifier against Wales on March 24th 2007. It is a green, home, short sleeved shirt and has been fully signed by Ireland's squad for the game. The match was historic because it was the first football / soccer match ever to be played at Croke Park - the home of the Gaelic Athletic Association. To some people outside of Ireland this might not seem such a big deal but to those who know and understand the history of Irish sport, and the history of Ireland as a country, this match was very historic. A brief overview of Croke Park's history can be viewed here. Ireland won the match 1-0 with a goal from Stephen Ireland. This was Ireland's spare short-sleeved shirt which came with a letter of provenance from Alan Kelly, Ireland's goalkeeping coach at the time.
